Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women's Volleyball student-athlete Tyneille Neufeld (Winnipeg, Man.) and Men's Volleyball student-athlete Nikola Sreckovic (Kragujevac, Serbia) have been named the Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Neufeld led her side to a weekend sweep in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's (ACAC) South Division as the Women's Volleyball Huskies extended their winning streak to seven games. Sreckovic played a strong role in the setter position for the Men's Volleyball Huskies during a weekend split, reaching a historic milestone in the process.

In a pair of four-set victories for the Huskies, Neufeld recorded 30 kills, 23 digs, four blocks, and a pair of assists. In Friday's win against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks, Neufeld recorded 15 kills, nine digs, two blocks, and a pair of assists. A day later against the Ambrose University Lions, Neufeld repeated her 15-kill performance, also adding 14 digs and a pair of blocks.

"Tyneille stepped up for us in some of the most important sections of the matches this weekend," Head Coach Hayden Nichol said. "She made her presence felt from all areas of the floor including her leadership."

A fifth-year outside hitter from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Neufeld is making more waves in her final season. Through 11 matches and 35 sets, she's recorded 118 kills, 78 digs, and 14 blocks. She ranks first, second, and third in the aforementioned categories respectively amongst her teammates.

Her 3.37 kills per set rank second in the entire ACAC while her 118 kills rank fifth in the conference.

As part of her weekend performance, Neufeld also surpassed 750 kills for her career in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), with 311 of those coming in a Huskies uniform.

Nikola Sreckovic, Men's Volleyball

In a weekend split for the Men's Volleyball Huskies, Sreckovic tallied 62 assists, 13 digs, a pair of kills, and one ace. Friday against the Kodiaks, Sreckovic had 20 assists, nine digs, one kill, and an ace. In a thrilling five-set victory Saturday against the Ambrose Lions, Sreckovic added 42 assists, four digs, and one kill.

"Every time Nikola is asked to step in to set and run the offence, he does a fantastic job," Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. "He stays calm in the moments when we need him the most and give our attackers the best opportunity to score."

With his performance Friday, Sreckovic also joined an exclusive group of ACAC setters to surpass the 1,500 assist milestone for their conference career. He currently sits at 1,558 assists, with 400 of those coming in a Huskies uniform.

Leading the Huskies with 233 assists, he ranks 14th in the ACAC while his 8.32 assists per set ranks fourth overall. In seven games with the Huskies this season, he's also recorded 37 digs, 10 kills, eight aces, and four blocks.

The Huskies return to action on Friday, January 20, challenging the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder in the provincial capital. First serve for the Women's game is at 6:00 p.m. with the Men's game set for a first serve at 8:00 p.m.
