Community Partners

The Keyano College Huskies pride themselves on their role they play in the development of sport throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Working with community partners, the Huskies help to further physical literacy with the community. In return, these groups have played a fundamental part in developing Huskies student athletes of the past, present, and future.

Fort McMurray Public School District


Fort McMurray Public School Division is home to 16 schools. They offer a variety of programming for our youngest three-year-old Early Childhood Development Program students to our graduating Grade 12 students.

From French Immersion to innovative fine arts programming and from coding, and power engineering to sports academies - Fort McMurray Public School District is Doing What’s Best for Kids.

 

Fort McMurray Catholic School District

 

The Fort McMurray Catholic Board of Education serves approximately 6,800 students in 12 schools. All schools offer a wide range of programming geared towards meeting the academic, cultural and spiritual needs of our community.

An integral part of the Public Education System of Alberta, Catholic Schools offer a faith-based learning environment to students of any background and a level of instruction geared toward the highest academic standards.  Instruction is primarily in English.

French Immersion programs are offered at Ecole St. Paul School French Immersion Centre (Preschool, Kindergarten and Grade 1 – 6) and at L’Ecole Secondaire Sainte Trinite (Holy Trinity High School, for grades 7 to 12).

 

Fort McMurray Premier Academy

With additional locations in Red Deer and Bonnyville, Premier Academy offers instruction in tumbling and cheerleading to all ages, providing a fun and safe environment to learn new skills while promoting fitness, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Led by Keyano College Huskies Cheerleading Head Coach Kierra Pelz, each class is leveled to allow for safe progression through all fundamental tumbling and gymnastics skills such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings, tucks, layouts and up to fulls.

KidSport Wood Buffalo



KidSport Wood Buffalo proudly serves the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, providing grants to help cover the costs of registration fees so that all kids aged 18 and under in Wood Buffalo can play a season of sport. Their chapter accepts applications and administers grants of up to $600 per kid/year.

Boys & Girls Club of Fort McMurray


The Boys & Girls Club of Fort McMurray is an accredited, quality-licensed social profit agency that has been in the community since 1981. They offer programming for children aged 12 months, to youth 22 years of age. 

The organization is committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable children, youth and their families by providing safe places and offering services and programs designed to meet the evolving needs of our community. We want our kids to develop confidence, gain skills, and experience success so that they can reach their best potential in life. We believe that every single kid counts.


Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo


The RRC operates recreation facilities located in the Wood Buffalo Region of Alberta. This includes MacDonald Island Park (MIP) located in Fort McMurray, which features Suncor Community Leisure Centre, the Miskanaw Golf Club and Shell Place; the Anzac Recreation Centre presented by CNOOC in the community of Anzac; the Sonny Flett Aquatic Centre in Fort Chipewyan; and the Conklin Multiplex in Conklin. 

Working in collaboration with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the communities it serves, the RRC works towards the vision of being the place where our communities gather, play and connect, creating memories that last a lifetime.
