Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women's Volleyball student-athlete Tyneille Neufeld (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Men's Basketball student-athlete Taliik Ross (Jacksonville, Florida) have been named the Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Neufeld and Ross both played key roles in weekend sweep for their respective sides, with the Volleyball Huskies sweeping a pair of road matches in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's (ACAC) South Division while Ross and the Men's Basketball Huskies stormed to a pair of victories on the home court.

Across the two road wins, Neufeld recorded 19 kills, 15 digs, and three blocks as the Huskies scored wins against the Olds College of Agriculture and Technology Broncos as well as the SAIT Trojans.

"Tyneille had a consistent performance in both matches," Head Coach Hayden Nichol said. "She was definitely our most reliable player and was great attitude-wise throughout the weekend.

"We're really proud of how she passed and how efficient she was on the attack."

Friday, the Huskies topped the Broncos in straight sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-18), with Neufeld securing eight kills and 10 digs. Saturday in a straight-sets win against the Trojans (25-23, 25-20, 25-21), Neufeld recorded 11 kills, five digs, and three blocks.

Neufeld is in her fifth year of eligibilty and is studying Education.

Ross continued to be outstanding down low for the Men's Basketball Huskies as he compiled 32 points, 35 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks as the Huskies claimed a pair of wins on the home court to move to a perfect 6-0 on the season.

"All weekend, he dominated on the glass," Head Coach Jeremy Wielenga said. "I think he really used his size. Part of the reason why we did such a good job in terms of holding both teams under 60 points because he finished possessions with his defensive rebounding.

"He really helped control the glass, which, in turn, helped us run the other way."

In Friday's 88-54 win against the St. Mary's University Lightning, Ross recorded 15 points and 17 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, also recording three assists and two blocks. He shot six-of-14 from the field, making one three-point shot. He also added a pair of free throws. In the 28-7 first quarter for the Huskies, Ross scored nine of his team's points.

In Saturday's 84-54 win against the SAIT Trojans, Ross picked up another double-double with 17 points, 18 rebounds while also contributing two assists and two blocks. In the team's 26-point fourth quarter to close out the win, Ross scored eight of his team's points to put the finishing touches on the victory.
This season, Ross is averaging 14.2 points per game along with 8.8 rebounds per game, ranking fifth in the latter category among the entire conference.

In his fifth year of eligibility, the Jacksonville, Florida product is studying business.
