During Black History Month, Keyano College Huskies Athletics will be celebrating and recognizing the accomplishments of Black student-athletes and staff who have made an impact during their time at Keyano College. Today, the program is recognizing Men's Basketball student-athlete Angelo Mbituyimana.

Some student-athletes with the Keyano Huskies stay for all five years, some come to the program with previous post-secondary experience, and other use the Huskies as a launching pad for greater success.
Angelo Mbituyimana did the second of those options, but still left a strong impact with the Men's Basketball Huskies before going on to star with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns in Canada West play.

After beginning his post-secondary career with his hometown Dinos in 2017-18, Mbituyimana was part of the squad that captured U SPORT gold.

Joining the Huskies for the 2019-20 season, the Calgary, Alta. product flourished. He averaged 13.6 points per game while also adding 96 rebounds, 67 assists, 49 steals, and three blocks. His 326 total points were third on the team as the Huskies charged to a 22-2 record.

Overall, he finished in the Top 15 in North Division scoring, Top 10 in North Division steals, and second in North Division steals.

That attracted the attention of the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, who gave him an opportunity to return to Canada West play where he's become one of the program's top performers. In the 2021-22 campaign, he finished fourth in team scoring, averaging 12.1 points per game, while coming off the bench.

This season, he's third in overall scoring for the Pronghorns and has started five games. That includes a season-best 30-point performance on February 3 against the Grant MacEwan Griffins.

A key part of the Huskies reaching the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) podium in 2019-20, Mbituyimana remains a part of the programs strong legacy.
