During Black History Month, Keyano College Huskies Athletics will be celebrating and recognizing the accomplishments of Black student-athletes and staff who have made an impact during their time at Keyano College. Today, the program is recognizing Women’s Basketball student-athlete Kaylynn Tucker.

While fans of the Keyano Huskies Women’s Basketball team were introduced to her skills this year, Kaylynn Tucker has been a driving force in collegiate basketball on both sides of the border in recent years.

Before joining the Huskies this season, Tucker had spent three seasons with the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Spartans. During that time, she averaged 10.4 points per game over 79 regular season games.

She also added 395 rebounds, 322 assists, 124 steals, and eight blocks to her 822 career points.

In 2021-22, Tucker was named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s (ICCAC) All-Regional Second team. That year, she made her strongest impact on the court with 335 points, 160 rebounds, 144 assists, 53 steals, and four blocks, marking career-high totals in each statistical category.

She kept up that play with the Huskies this year, appearing in 13 games and averaging 10.7 points per game. She also contributed 61 rebounds, 48 assists, 17 steals, and two blocks.

Against Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) competition, Tucker reached double-digits in eight of the 13 games, scoring a season-high 18 points on two occasions.

On a per-game basis, her field goals made per game (3.9) ranks third on the team while her shooting percentage (41.5 percent) is tied for second.

She also ranks in the top three of the team for three-point shots made per game (1.2) while her 37.5 percent success rate from beyond the arc is still leading the team, leading the field in free throw percentage success as well.

Ready to light up the opposition once again, Tucker played a bright part in the Huskies’ 2022-23 season.
