During Black History Month, Keyano College Huskies Athletics will be celebrating and recognizing the accomplishments of Black student-athletes and staff who have made an impact during their time at Keyano College. Today, the program is recognizing Men's Basketball Head Coach Lunzaya Nlandu.

In need of a quick transition and quick leadership, Lunzaya Nlandu delivered for the Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team.

Taking over after the 2014-15 campaign, Nlandu led the Huskies for a pair of seasons, compiling a 27-21 record in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Basketball Regular Season play and earning the program a Bronze Medal at the ACAC level.

In that first year, he led a talented Huskies squad to first place in the ACAC North Division with a 19-5 record. At ACAC Men's Basketball Championships that season, the squad would finish third, though they had bigger sights set on the horizon with the responsibility of hosting the 2016 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Basketball Championships.

While they fell in their opening game of the tournament on the home court to the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners, the Huskies rallied to beat the Mohawk College Mountaineers by a 102-91 score.

Eventually falling in the Bronze Medal semi-final to the Holland College Hurricanes, the Huskies put forth a respectable showing on the home court, finishing in the same position as the top-ranked Mariners.

In a time of need, Nlandu provided a strong voice for the Huskies to showcase themselves on the provincial and national stage.
