During Black History Month, Keyano College Huskies Athletics will be celebrating and recognizing the accomplishments of Black student-athletes and staff who have made an impact during their time at Keyano College. Today, the program is recognizing Men’s Basketball student-athlete DJ Haynes.

In each of their last two seasons, the Keyano Huskies Men’s Basketball team has felt the positive effects of an impact player who came into the team and quickly played their way into a major role with the program.
This year, DJ Haynes was that person as his presence has steadily risen to become one more offensive threat for opponents to worry about each time the Huskies head down the court.
Haynes took time to find his rhythm in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), posting 19 points combined through his first three games of the season. However, that changed over the next two games with 15 and 19-point performances in crucial wins for his side.
He also posted 17 points in a win against the Olds College Broncos on November 19 and added a 13-point performance against The King’s University Eagles during the final weekend of the first half.
In three tough wins on the road in the second half, Haynes took charge for the Huskies with 36 points across a pair of games against the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings and a 27-point effort in a win against the Briercrest College Clippers. The 27 points marked a season-high total for the Fort Pierce, Florida product.
Capping off the regular season, Haynes totaled 74 rebounds, 50 assists, 15 steals, and two blocks in addition to adding 207 points.
Making 53.1 percent of his shots from the field, Haynes was also one of the top individuals in the conference for that statistic.
Still early in his Huskies career, Haynes has already made a sizeable impact with the Men’s Basketball Huskies.
