Panesa, Michael-Clancey named Huskies Athletes of the Week

Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that women's basketball student athlete Zera Panesa (Winnipeg, Man.) and men's basketball student athlete Sean Michael-Clancey (Las Vegas, Nevada) have been named the Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 14, 2021.

Panesa played a key role in the women's basketball Huskies earning a weekend split in Edmonton, Alta. against The King's University Eagles. In Friday's 70-69 loss, Panesa posted 13 points, two rebounds, and one assist in 33 minutes of action.

She went 5-of-14 from the field, making a pair of three pointers and adding a single free throw.

"Her performance was really good," said head coach Dwayne Vigilance. "She's coming off an MCL sprain so she didn't practice a whole lot over the last month-and-a-half, just really joining us the last two weeks.

"She's been really good in regards to running our offence and being composed, being aggressive. She was definitely a difference in us turning the corner on that Saturday."

Saturday, Panesa added six points, two rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a 66-51 for the Huskies. All her points came through six made free throws on eight attempts.

A Business Administration student in her fourth year of eligibility, Panesa is averaging 9.5 points-per-game along with two rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game as well.

Michael-Clancey played a leading role in a weekend sweep for the men's basketball Huskies, collecting 37 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, six steals, and one block over the pair of games.

"He's a very talented player," said head coach Jeremy Wielenga. "Coming from NAIT, he was always a problem for us when we played him so we're very excited to have him in the Keyano colours and Keyano jersey."

In Friday's 105-60 victory, he went seven-of-13 from the field, placing second on the team with 20 points. He went four-for-four in free throws throughout the contest. He also added a pair of defensive rebounds, two steals, as well as a single assist and single block.
