Baquiran named Huskies Esports Performer of the Week

Keyano College Huskies Athletics today announced KingRome Baquiran (Fort McMurray, Alta.) as this week's recipient of the Keyano Huskies Esports Performer of the Week.

Playing under the username "JhingerBread", Baquiran played a key role in the Huskies securing their first win of the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Valorant Regular Season.

The Esports Huskies took down the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Cougars with a 2-0 victory in the best-of-three matchup.

"He's a vital part of our lineup and played an essential tole in that first victory," Head Coach Ben Bramly said. "Baquiran has shown great ability to play within the team system of sorts since joining our program."

Baquiran amassed 46 kills and 12 assists while also recording 28 deaths in the victory.

"He's a team leader when it comes to game strategy and is a big part in keeping the team focused and on the same page with each other throughout the match," Bramly added.

Baquiran is currently enrolled in Power Engineering 4th Class at Keyano College.  

The win elevated the Huskies to 1-2 on the season with 50 rounds won to 71 lost.

The Valorant Huskies currently compete in the 10-team "Challengers Cyan" division of the NECC's conference. The second-highest of the four divisions, the Huskies rank eighth out of 10 teams.

Their next match is scheduled for February 28 against the squad from California State University, Dominguez Hills Gold.
