Bullock, Alves, and Nkassa named Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Basketball student-athlete Ryley Bullock (Kelowna, B.C.) has been named the Keyano Huskies Women’s Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 26, 2025.
Aditionally, Men’s Basketball student-athlete Sammuel Nkassa (Spring, Texas) and Men’s Volleyball student-athlete Arthur Alves (São Paulo, Brazil) have been named co-Keyano Huskies Male Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 26, 2025.
The trio helped their respective sides earn weekend sweeps with all three teams taking steps forward in the top half of their respective Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) North Divisions.
In Friday’s 91-53 win against the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves, Bullock scored 35 points while adding 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She also added three steals, and two assists to pick up Player of the Game honours. Saturday, Bullock was back with 18 points in a 82-53 win for the Huskies. She also contributed five rebounds, five steals, and four assists.
““[It was] kind of a breakout game for her,” Head Coach Dwayne Vigilance said. “She’s been struggling a lit bit, but playing really well and I think she needed that big 35-point game to bring out some confidence in her.”
Bullock has made an immediate impact with the Huskies, averaging 18.8 points per game, along with 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 4.8 steals on a per game basis. The third-year forward/guard from Kelowna, B.C. is shooting 56.5 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from three-point range.
After a bye week, Alves made an immediate impact with the Men’s Volleyball Huskies, recording 34 kills and 18 digs in two road weekend wins in Grande Prairie, Alta.
In the victories, both via four-set finishes, Alves had 16 kills and seven digs Friday before adding 18 kills and 11 digs in Saturday’s win. For his performance Saturday, Alves earned Player of the Game honours.
“You could definitely tell [he was] a little nervous on Friday, but he had a quiet 16 kills” Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. “On Saturday, he really performed well for us. [He] scored for us when we needed in big moments so I’m super happy to see him respond from Friday and to play even better Saturday.
“All in all, a great weekend from him.”
Through just two games, Alves is among the ACAC’s best in kills per set, maintaining a 4.25 average to rank second.
Nkassa also helped propel his team to a pair of wins, coming off the bench both days to provide double-digit performances in victories. Across the two games, he totaled 30 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.
“Sam played really well off the bench both games,” Head Coach Anthony Skepple said. “He was a real difference-maker.”
Nkassa was dialed in on his shooting, going 13-for-22 (59.1 percent) from the field. His field goal percentage through four games, 60.6 percent, ranks 15th in the entire conference and third on the Huskies.
Up next on the home court at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre for the Huskies are the home-opening games for the Keyano Huskies Volleyball teams. First serve against Red Deer Polytechnic on Friday, October 31 is scheduled for 5:00pm while Saturday’s first serve against the Olds College Broncos is scheduled for 1:00pm.
