During Black History Month, Keyano College Huskies Athletics will be celebrating and recognizing the accomplishments of Black student-athletes and staff who have made an impact during their time at Keyano College. Today, the program is recognizing Men's Basketball student-athlete Sean-Michael Clancey.

During his time in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), Sean-Michael Clancey has proven himself to be a cut above the rest.

Whether he's been hooping on the court or working behind Guest Services at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre, Clancey has given it his all and is set to lead the Huskies on another playoff run this year with their sights firmly on the top of the podium.

The defending ACAC North Division Player of the Year, Clancey first entered the ACAC in the 2019-20 season with the NAIT Ooks. Winning the scoring title in the ACAC's North Division and topping the leader from the South Division, he also picked up his first ACAC All-Conference Team honours. That season, the Ooks fell in the Bronze Medal game at ACAC Men's Basketball Championships to the Huskies to take the fourth spot in the conference.

Clancey was also recognized as an All-Canadian by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) this season as well.

Switching over to the blue and white of the Huskies for the 2021-22 season, Clancey instantly became the team's leading offensive presence.

Averaging 24.3 points per game over the course of the 16-game season, he set an early benchmark with a 29-point performance against the Lakeland Rustlers. Raising his game in the second half of the season, Clancey poured in a season-high 38 points on February 6, 2022 against the Concordia Thunder. He'd later add three other performances of 30-plus points to close out the regular season.

With the 16-0 record, Clancey and the Huskies completed the first perfect season in ACAC Men's Basketball history since the 2011-12 Lakeland Rustlers.

In the playoffs, he averaged 27.7 points per game, shooting 45.3 percent from the field and averaging 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.3 steals on a per game basis. Though the Huskies eventually settled for the silver, Clancey took top honours as the ACAC North Division Player of the Year and made it onto the All-Conference First Team for the second-consecutive season.

The CCAA also reupped his name on their annual list of All-Canadians, adding him to a select list of Keyano Huskies all-time greats.

Not satisfied with their second place finish, Clancey and the Huskies have come out as men on a mission this season.

In addition to averaging 22.3 points per game, Clancey has nine games of perfect free throw shooting. He's also averaged 6.6 rebounds per game, 4.7 assists, and 3.0 steals per game as well.

Those efforts have given him an incredible stat line of 1,377 points, 458 rebounds, 221 assists, and 160 steals in only 56 ACAC Regular Season games.

Those numbers have him top 10 all-time in points and steals, in the top 50 for rebounds and closing in on the top 25 all-time for assists.

Now set to play the final ACAC Regular Season games of his post-secondary career, fans will get the chance to honour a legendary student-athlete this weekend as the Huskies close out the regular season side of their schedule on the home court.

With his statiistics high on the ACAC's All-Time list, his impact and legacy made on Keyano College Huskies Athletics and ACAC Men's Basketball won't dissipate anytime soon.
