Edmonton, Alta. - The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Jeremy Wielenga of the Keyano College Huskies has been named the ACAC Men’s Basketball North Division Coach of the Year.

Wielenga guided the Keyano Huskies Men’s Basketball team to their first perfect season in team history, going 16-0 throughout the 2021-22 ACAC Regular Season. As a team, the Huskies led the ACAC with 93.1 points per game, also owning a conference-best 1.146 offensive efficiency rating.

The honour marks back-to-back North Division Coach of the Year Awards for the Brandon, Man. product, who was bestowed with the award at the conclusion of the 2019-20 ACAC Regular Season.

On February 13, 2022, Wielenga coached the Huskies to their 150th regular season win in team history since joining ACAC play in the 2010-11 ACAC Regular Season.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have a coach of Jeremy’s caliber as part of our staff,” Director of Athletics & Recreation Jonathan Lambert said. “Since his arrival, he’s set forth a strong example for coaching in our program and throughout our conference.

“He’s also become a pillar in the growth of the basketball community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and an invaluable source of support and mentorship for those seeking to expand their skill set.”

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Men’s Basketball Championship hosted by SAIT in Calgary, Alta.
