The Keyano Huskies Women's Volleyball team faced another tough reception in Edmonton as The King's University Eagles topped them in four sets (15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-17) Friday night in the opening of a weekend set.

"We had a really hot start," Head Coach Hayden Nichol said. "I think we caught them off-guard with our energy and our efficiency, but we definitely took the foot off the gas against a team who consistently wins medals in our conference.

"We didn't do ourselves any favours. Our error rates skyrocketed after set 1 and we really just couldn't recover."

Tyneille Neufeld and Megan Polant led the way with 18 and 12 kills, respectively. Lauren Huntley came close to equaling her season-high kill total with eight in the match. Karlene Kaminski and Sofia Janzen each recorded a trio of kills.

While the Huskies handled the first set quickly, the Eagles took care of the remaining three sets. Through the Huskies pushed back in each of the three sets, the rally came too late to throw the Eagles off course.

"We were good for five points and then bad for five points," Nichol added. "We just can't play that rollercoaster game against one of the best teams in our conference and one of the best teams in our country.

"We need to play a lot more consistent and we can't just rely on teams giving us points with their errors."

Raisa Stokes led the team with 16 digs while Rebecca Maxwell recorded 41 assists in setting duties for the Huskies.

Neufeld picked up Player of the Game honours for the Huskies in the match.

The rematch will go at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Edmonton.
