The Keyano Huskies Women's Volleyball team extended their winning streak in a strong fashion Saturday night, topping the Ambrose University Lions in four sets (25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14) to move their winning streak to seven games.

"We needed certain people to step up from their performances [Friday]," Head Coach Hayden Nichol said. "We didn't really play as well as we wanted to yesterday, even though we got the win. They did exactly that."

Tyneille Neufeld and Karlene Kaminski led the offensive charge with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Neufeld also added 14 digs, the lone player on either side to reach double digits in that category.

"Karlene stepped into a pretty tough situation yesterday in the match when Lauren went down," Nichol added. "Today, she showed up ready to go and was a big part of our offence and did a really good job for us."

With his side having won seven of their nine matches via straight sweeps this season, Nichol liked the response of his side after the Lions challenged the Huskies with a third-set victory, likening the response to Friday's first-set loss in Lethbridge.

"Luckily, we had a very similar response coming back in and taking care of business in the next set," Nichol said. "We knew this weekend was going to be a battle. It was pretty likely there wasn't going to be any sweeps. We knew what was coming from the other side of the net.

"When there's that much talent, sometime you need to be ready for those moments of adversity and we were today."

Rebecca Maxwell added 31 assists along with five digs, four kills, three aces, and three blocks. Sofia Janzen continued her strong rookie season with a pair of blocks and a pair of kills.

With the weekend sweep, the Huskies are now 5-0 against the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's (ACAC) South Division and have also dropped the third-fewest sets among all teams in the conference.

Megan Polant added five kills along with a trio from Amber Francis to round out the offensive efforts.

It was a milestone moment on Saturday for both Neufeld and Maxwell. Neufeld surpasses 750 kills for her career in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) while Maxwell surpassed 250 assists in the ACAC.

The Huskies return to action on Friday, January 20, challenging the Concordia Thunder in Edmonton. First serve on Friday is at 6:00 p.m. with Saturday's first serve at 1:00 p.m.
