The Keyano Huskies Women's Soccer team closed out their 2022 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) regular season with a 9-1 win on the road against the Portage College Voyageurs Sunday.

Six different Huskies found the back on the net, highlighted by Sabrina Lera, Felicia Rodney, and Marissa Mestre each scoring a pair of goals. Sophie Griffiths, Natalie Orellana, and Nathalie Andersson each struck for a single goal.

"It was a very good game," Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. "We had some changes due to some unforeseen circumstances in our group. Last game of the season, it's not really meaningful when it comes to the result.

"We wanted to make sure that we worked on a couple of things in the week leading up, and we wanted to see that back, so it was good to see that."

Playing the role of goalkeeper, Kendra Metz earned the first win of her ACAC career, making six saves and conceding a single goal.

Orellana and Rodney each added a pair of assists while Lera had a single assist to go with her two-goal performance.

"What we've done the whole season, it's finding success in the little things, which adds to the big picture," Slotboom said. "We're just looking to continue that. We continue to build off the success that we had and that's making sure that we execute on the things that we can control.

"That's what we've done all season."

The Huskies begin their journey at the 2022 ACAC Women's Soccer Championships, hosted by Lethbridge College, on Friday, October 28 against the third seed from the south. Kick-off for the game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
