The Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball team has added the first new member of their squad, Cayd Zadderey (Wildwood, Alberta), for the 2023-24 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Regular Season.

"With Cayd, he's ready to go," Men's Volleyball Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. "I think he's going to be a pretty good middle in this league for years to come.

"I really hope that he keeps progressing. He had a pretty weekend at nationals from what I could see."

In addition to playing with his high school team at Grand Trunk High School in Evansburg, AB, he captained the Nooks Volleyball Club's 18U Men's Blue squad. While competing with Fog Volleyball Club at the 17U level, his squad captured a Division 2 National Championship.

Having lost a trio of Albertans as part of the program's graduating seniors, being able to add talent close to home was important to Kuhr.

"Anytime you can focus a little close to home, Edmonton being only a couple hours away from us, that's important for some of these guys that they can be closer to home and still be able to play volleyball," Kuhr said. "Being able to grab some pretty good local Edmonton talent was nice."

The opportunity for Zadderey to make an immediate impact will be present as well, with Kuhr noting a unique situation not always available to first-year players.

"Our roster has taken a little bit of an overturn," Kuhr said. "We lost a decent amount of guys this year. He's going to have lots of opportunities as a first-year, which as each years go isn't always an option."
