Men's Volleyball Huskies top division-leading Ooks in four sets

The Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball team defended their home turf Friday, notching a four-set victory (26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22) against the visiting NAIT Ooks.

Radek Brzozowski collected 14 kills and four digs while Trey Weinmeier had 11 kills and six digs along with one block and one ace. Joao Cunha had a team-leading 19 digs, adding nine kills, one aces and one block. 

"Even though last weekend we lost a tough game in five sets we came together as a group this week. We had some good practices and honestly I think it's because we stayed together that's why we won today."

Carter Bragg stepped up defensively with five blocks, also contrbiuting a pair of kills. Preston Yole had four kills and four digs to go along with two aces. 

Setter Nikola Sreckovic stepped in to provide 38 assists, 3 aces, five digs, and two blocks. The assist performance moved the Kragujevac, Serbia to 1,471 all-time ACAC assists, seven behind 10th place all-time in ACAC history. 

"We've obviously been struggling and I think we've been in matches, but to finally close one out, get a win, it's huge for our team and huge for our confidence moving forward," Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. 

The Ooks countered with a top performance from Shae McIntyre, who provided 14 kills, nine digs, three blocks, and one ace. Felix Dufour added nine kills and four digswhile Ross Bishop had eight kills along with a single dig, block, and ace to his stat sheet as well. Karter Godin picked up 35 assists in the match.

Brzozowski and Bishop each earned Player of the Game honours for their respective sides. 

The Huskies and Ooks will reconvene at the SSWC on Saturday, November 26 for the second half of their weekend rematch. Tip-off time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
