The Keyano Huskies Men’s Volleyball team had their five-game winning streak halted Friday in Edmonton against The King’s University Eagles, who claimed the victory on their home court in four sets (25-16, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22).

“It was a tough one; King’s was just better first contact across the board, serving and passing,” Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. “We gave it away in the third [set]. It never got to that level after that. We just didn’t recover from it.”

Joao Cunha led both sides with 20 kills to earn Player of the Game honours for the Huskies. Trey Weinmeier added eight kills and Preston Yole had six while Radek Brzozowski and Carter Bragg each had five.

Nikola Sreckovic added 41 assists in the match. Weinmeier and Bragg finished tied for the team lead with five digs each.

Kuhr went further to say his side needed to learn from their Friday mistakes quickly and readjust for Saturday’s rematch.

“We’ve got to look at film, can’t feel sorry for ourselves,” he added. “We’ve got to show up and play a match, not just a set. Take this one, move on and learn from it and get better [Saturday].”

The rematch will go at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Edmonton.
