The Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball team swept away their competition Friday night at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta., topping the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings in straight sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-22).

“We controlled most of the match,” Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. “It got a little sticky there in the end of the third, but we brought Nikola and Radek back in there to finish it off and we got the job done.

“It was a nice clean win.”

Radek Brzozowski and Trey Weinmeier teamed up for 10 kills each throughout the match, with Brzozowski's 10th of the night capping off the victory in the third set.

Cameron Visscher added seven more and four each from Carter Bragg and Athus Silva made for a tough night on the court for the visiting Vikings.

“He had some good blocks for us, had some big kills, brought some energy,” Kuhr said of Silva, who contributed four blocks, three digs, and one ace to go along with his four kills. “He’s a good player for us, so all around it was pretty good for us.”

Brzozowski also led the Huskies with six digs and seven aces in the match, later earning Player of the Game honours. Devon Nazarchuk earned the POG honours for the Vikings.

With one win in the books this weekend, the Huskies move to 10-4 on the season, keeping pace with The King’s University Eagles for second place in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference’s North Division.

“It’s realizing we need one more win before we go play King’s for first place in the North. We had a really good week of practice, guys were battling, and I was happy with the effort today.

The two sides will face each other in a rematch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. The game will be available on ACAC TV and Telus Optik 1998.
