Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball student-athletes Trey Weinmeier and Radek Brzozowski have charged into the quarterfinals at the inaugural 2022 Volleyball Canada College/University Beach National Championships in Toronto, Ont.

The pair completed a perfect day on the sand by topping their group in pool play and then beating the McGill University Redbirds in the Round of 16.

"I'm happy how we performed and carried ourselves today," Brzozowski said.

The pair began their day with a straight-sets victory over the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) Citadins (21-12, 21-11).

Facing off against the Western University Mustangs in their second pool match, the Huskies again claimed a straight-sets victory. This time, they topped their opponents from Ontario University Athletics (OUA) 21-9 and 21-13.

"Each game had different challenges, but we stayed focused and got it done," Weinmeier said of the day's battles. "We played some good competition but with all the training we've been putting in it felt like our game was flowing today."

That victory earned the pair a bye through to the Round of 16 where they'd take on the Redbirds. That match ended in straight sets as well with scores of 21-11 and 21-5 in favour of the Huskies.

The Huskies will now advance into the quarterfinals, facing off against the Queen's University Gaels at 9:45 a.m. ET at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto, Ont.
