While the Keyano Huskies Men's Soccer team found some fortune from second-half offence Friday, it wasn't their friend Saturday in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of The King's University Eagles.

After scoring the game's opening goal in the 48th minute thanks to the work of James Bartha and finish of Joshua Fitzpatrick, the Eagles responded in the 72nd and 74th minute to take the victory and four points from the pair of weekend games.

"We had some moments in the game where we were very good," Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. "We dropped the ball off of two set plays that were coming off of mistakes that don't have to happen; fouls that shouldn't take place.

"We shoot ourselves in the foot and props from King's to make us pay for it. It's all coming off our mistakes so that's where we really got to focus on it with the guys so we don't put all the effort in and don't get any results."

Abraham Jones and Dorian Jacobs scored for the Eagles in the victory.

Now in his third season with the Huskies and an Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Champion from the futsal sphere last March, Fitzpatrick was able to celebrate his first goal of the outdoor side of his ACAC career, an early indication of the work he's put in according to Slotboom.

"Josh has done well the whole season so far," Slotboom said of the Ottawa, Ont. striker. "He's come in fit, he's done well in preseason and the game here too, he played well yesterday when he came in.

"He started today and made his mark and finally put one in the back of the net. I'm excited to see what else he can do this season."

While they're just one sixth through the way of their season, the Huskies will be eager to pick up wins in the next few weekends as they aim to qualify for the ACAC Championships under the revised format of old, with only the top three teams in each division qualifying for this year's Championships.

The Huskies will host a single game next weekend, playing host to the Portage College Voyageurs on Sunday, September 17 at Shell Place. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
