The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team wore down their opponents on both sides of the ball Friday at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre, rolling to a 90-48 win against the Concordia Thunder to stay perfect on the season.

"It was good to get back and start playing again," Head Coach Jeremy Wielenga said. "We had a little bit of exhibition, but it's been a long time since we played a league game.

"It's good to get back out there competing again and getting the ball rolling for the second half of the year."

Sean-Michael Clancey led all players with 19 points, Jusci Thompson added 11, and Taliik Ross posted 10 points in the dominant win.

After a 23-6 first quarter and 30-16 second, the Huskies carried a 31-point lead into the half. The Thunder chipped away at the deficit in the third quarter, winning the opening frame of the second half by four points, but the Huskies closed things out in style with a 20-5 fourth quarter.

Stefan Jovcic made his long-awaited return to the Huskies lineup, scoring nine points and adding 10 rebounds. Omeechi Williams also posted nine points in the contest while Nathan Carefoote-Jones and DJ Haynes each had eight.

Williams came close to a double-double after adding 11 rebounds to his final statline, with the Huskies outrebounding the Thunder 54-28 in the contest.

Overall, the Huskies shot 41.3 percent from the field, making eight three-point shots in the course of the game. The guys were also on their game at the free throw line, making 16 of 19 attempted shots.

"We had 29 assists so we all gelled tonight," Wielenga continued. "A lot of guys did a lot of good things tonight and I'm excited to keep rolling and moving forward."

Jovcic and Dhaliwal earned Player of the Game honours for their respective sides.

The two sides will face each other in a rematch Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
