The Keyano Huskies Esports team are proud to announce the commitment of Call of Duty player Chason Christie (Toronto, Ont. ) to the program starting in the 2022-23 academic year.

“I really wanted to get involved with a school that hasn’t really gone too far in the Esports realm, but is motivated to go far in the Esports realm,” Christie said. “I want to make an impact. I want to impact the school heavily and the Esports department most importantly.

“I want to work with people that are positive people.”

Christie, who grew up in Etobicoke, excelled in the sport of soccer, earning MVP honours for his goalkeeping in his graduating year. He also participated in basketball, volleyball, and hockey while taking his talents to the coaching and officiating ranks of organized sport.

“He’s a really good athlete and he’ll be a big part of our team,” Head Coach Ben Bramly said. “He’ll be helping out a lot in terms of helping with the coaching and managing of our Call of Duty team as well.

“He has a lot of experience in that realm in addition to playing so he’ll be really helpful in helping us grow our program out from where it was last year.”

Christie is joining the Huskies Esports program while also enrolling in the Business Administration Diploma with specialization in Esports Management. Already a seasoned member of the Esports community, Christie was hoping to discover that next level of knowledge for his passion.

“I’m hoping to enlighten myself a little further on the Esports side of things,” he said. [And also] get a lot of really awesome information and skill-building experience and knowledge-building experience with the business side of things.

“It’s always been an interest of mine to get better business skills.”

It also helps Bramly in his pursuit of taking each team to the next level.

“Getting them used to playing as a team instead of playing individually was difficult for us,” Bramly said. “Bringing in a few people for all our teams who have that competitive experience, know what it takes, know how to work as a team, will really help us take that next step.”

The Keyano Huskies Esports team competes in a variety of online competitions throughout the course of the academic year.
