Keyano Huskies announce recruitment of Salem Clark

The Keyano Huskies Esports team are proud to announce the commitment of Valorant player Salem Clark (West Kelowna, B.C.) to the program starting in the 2022-23 academic year.

“I think it’s a really big announcement for our us,” Head Coach Ben Bramly said. “It’s our first recruit and a really big part of our new Valorant team for the next season.

“[It’s] really a big boost to the team in terms of skill as well as leadership ability in game to be making those snap decisions to help improve our team.

Clark comes to the Esports Huskies a graduate of Mount Boucherie Secondary School, where he played at a competitive level in football as a wide receiver and defensive back and in soccer as a midfielder.

“After high school when I graduated, I didn’t end up getting any offers for football so I ended up just working,” Clark said. “I just ended up playing Call of Duty [CoD] and working and going through my life after high school and then COD switched over to computer.

“That’s what got me into getting an actual PC. When I got a PC I wanted to try different games, so I got into Valorant.”

Online, Clark goes by the username “Spixyy” and felt it was a perfect match to join the Huskies once the initial recruiting conversations had taken place.

“I was just looking for any opportunity that was closer to home that I could go to school,” Clark said. “When I got offered to Keyano, I didn’t really bother looking at other schools because it was so close to home.

“Ben, he was really good and we had the same view going into the team and aspect of it.”

Bramly was appreciative of Clark’s decision, noting his raw skill and leadership qualities within the game will help to have the Valorant Huskies take the next step forward in their team’s progression.

“He’s a really skilled player,” Bramly added. “He’s one of the highest ranks in the game so his raw skill will definitely bring a lot to the team.

“In addition, he’s got a lot of the leadership skills we’re looking for in terms of coming up with plays and improving our play style as a team.”
