Orellana, Ernst named All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week

Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women's Soccer student-athlete Natalie Orellana (Pinole, California) and Men's Soccer student-athlete Aaron Ernst (Edmonton, Alta.) have been recognized as the All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 8, 2024.

The pair played key roles in their team's respective results in the opening weekend of the 2024 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Soccer Regular Season.

Both teams played just a single game over the weekend due to Saturday's postponment. Orellana scored the 24th goal of her ACAC career in a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Concordia of University Edmonton Thunder.

"She was a strong leader from the locker room to the field this weekend," Head Coach Tiffany Fontaine said. "Natalie showcased creativity in her attacking runs and distribution which created several opportunities."

On the Men's side of the competition, Ernst was key to the Huskies' attack in a 1-0 win against the Thunder as the Huskies earned their ninth-straight regular season win dating back to September 24, 2023.

"Since joining our program, Aaron has shown consistent growth each and every year," Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. "In this seasons opener he once again showed that he is an even better player than he was last season and as coachable as a coach could ever wish for."

Orellana and Ernst return to action this weekend on the home pitch at Shell Place against the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves.

Saturday, the Women's Soccer Huskies kick-off at 2:00pm followed by the Men at 4:00pm. Sunday, the Women's game begins at 12:00pm followed by the Men at roughly 2:00pm. All four games will be available to stream on the Keyano Huskies YouTube page.
