Keyano College Huskies Athletics mourns passing of former student-athlete Michael King

Keyano College Huskies Athletics is mourning the passing of former Men’s Volleyball student athlete Michael King.

King joined the Huskies during the 2008-09 academic year, where he was a part of the squad that earned a 15-5 record to top the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference’s (ACAC) North Division for the first time ever.

"Mike was a amazing individual," Men's Volleyball Head Coach Keegan Kuhr, a teammate of King, said. "Always ready to put a smile on your face, I enjoyed my time meeting him and getting to know him."

During his time with the Huskies, King played in 23 sets for the Huskies, earning seven kills, five digs, two blocks, and one ace during the regular season. He also played in nine sets during the ACAC Playoffs, being credited with 10 kills, three aces, two blocks, and one dig. That year’s Huskies squad hosted the 2009 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball Nationals, where King and the Huskies finished in fifth place.

The Huskies as well as the entire Keyano College community mourn the loss of King and send their deepest thoughts to his family during this time.
