The Keyano Huskies Women's Soccer team moved up a single position to the 14th spot in the latest edition of the Canadian Collegiate's Athletic Association's (CCAA) National Rankings.
In their lone game of the weekend, they shutout the Portage College Voyageurs 4-0 Saturday at Shell Place. Marissa Mestre opened the scoring, followed by a pair of goals from Felicia Rodney and a single strike by Sophie Griffiths.
The win moved the Huskies to 4-1-0 on the season, including a 3-0-0 home record. They’ve now won six-straight Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) games at Shell Place, including two regular season wins and a last year’s playoff victory.
Rodney’s two goals elevated her to seven goals in the season and 44 for her entire ACAC career. She’s now tied for sixth all-time in ACAC goal scoring. She’s also tied for fourth in ACAC goalscoring this year and leads the ACAC North Division by a three-goal margin.
The SAIT Trojans and Concordia Thunder were the only other ACAC programs to feature in the national rankings.
Up next for the Huskies is a trip down Highway 63 to Edmonton for matches against the Thunder and King’s University Eagles. Saturday’s matchup is scheduled to kickoff at 3:45 p.m. with Sunday’s date against the Eagles scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. kick-off.
